The Spanish oil olive “Picual” is considered to be particularly easy to care for and has established itself as one of the top 3 most planted olive trees in Spain - and that means something - because the olive tree is, in most cases, well suited even for people with brown thumbs and is almost impossible to damage.

The Picual variety also has even fewer demands on its location than other varieties.
A crucial trait is this variety's ability to self-pollinate. Many olive varieties, such as the high-performing Italian variety "Leccio del Corno," require a genetically compatible partner that blooms at the same time to produce fruit—a science that can debunk the inexperienced olive tree owner's illusions. You don't have to think about this for a second with the "Picual" variety, because this tree produces olives every year, even without a partner.
This variety also loves the hard lime that is present in large quantities in our tap water.
