The Maurino olive tree variety is probably one of the most valuable varieties in our program. On the one hand, an olive tree of the Maurino variety not only attracts attention with its typical olive tree look with long, silvery shimmering leaves (which are rarely seen on frost-hardy varieties), but this variety is also one of the most important pollinators for many extremely frost-hardy varieties and just as tough himself. The successful management of the Pannonian olive groves is largely due to this variety due to its easy propagation, compatibility with other varieties coupled with exceptional frost hardiness.

Since Maurino does not produce olives when planted alone, you need at least a second compatible tree - here we recommend the varieties “Leccino”, “Pendolino”, and “Frantoio” for milder locations (right next to the house, for example) or the two elite varieties “Bianchera”. “ and “Morchione” when extremely harsh conditions are involved.

The oil is from Maurino and is highly sought after and correspondingly expensive due to the typically fruity and fresh-spicy olive oil taste, which only carefully processed, fresh oils have.

Ideal location: Sunny, dry and rich in limestone.
