Along with "Picual," "Arbequina," and "Hojiblanca," this variety is one of the leading varieties of Spanish origin. Together with the "Arroniz" variety, they represent the pinnacle in terms of winter hardiness.

Olive trees grow much faster than you might think – nevertheless, some varieties grow more happily than others – so this variety is especially suitable for our impatient seedling fans, as it is one of the fastest-growing olive varieties. Up to 50 cm of growth is possible in the first year!
For our olive friends with a penchant for yield perfectionism: In principle self-pollinating, “Cornicabra” enjoys the company of the “Arbequina” variety

The incredible winter hardiness and ability to withstand drought, even during the fruiting phase, better than many other varieties probably make it one of the most important varieties for the future of the olive in Austria.

"Cornicabra" is considered particularly susceptible to tubercle disease (olive cancer), which causes the trunk to grow with the growths characteristic of olive trees. However, since many trees have been living with this disease for hundreds of years, there's no need to worry.
