A remarkable olive – This variety originates from Slovenia, is mainly cultivated in the border region with Italy and is therefore closer to its homeland than any other variety in its new home here in Eastern Austria.
The Bianchera is known for producing excellent olive oil, surviving even the most adverse winters, and delivering beautiful, large fruits with consistent yields. All of this comes at a price – due to the difficult cultivation process common to all elite varieties, it is also one of the most expensive trees.
The olive tree is subject to a botanical phenomenon – it is a so-called “pseudo-self-compatible” tree and can pollinate itself, which is not true for all varieties. Bianchera can pollinate itself, but it is happy to have a partner, ideally a “Maurino” – then the harvest will be even more abundant!
